COLLEGIATE DESIGN SERIES

The Collegiate Design Series (CDS) take students beyond textbook theory by enabling them to design, build, and test the performance of a real vehicle and then compete with other students from around the globe in exciting and intense competitions.

SAE AERO DESIGN

This real-world design challenge compresses an aircraft development program into a single calendar year. In that year, it takes participants through the systems engineering process and exposes them to the nuances of conceptual design, manufacturing, system integration/testing and sell-off through demonstration in one or more classes of competition—Regular, Open and Micro. Raise brand awareness and reach over 1,300 students through a sponsorship.
BAJA SAE

In Baja SAE, engineering students are tasked with designing and building a single-seat, all-terrain sporting vehicle that is to be a prototype for a reliable, maintainable, ergonomic, and economic production vehicle that serves a recreational user market. The students must function as a team to design, engineer, build, test, promote, and compete with a vehicle within the limits of the rules.
FORMULA SAE

The Formula SAE® series competitions challenge teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and compete with small, formula-style vehicles. The competitions give teams the chance to demonstrate and prove both their creativity and engineering skills in comparison to teams from other universities around the world.
SAE SUPERMILEAGE

This competition challenges students to develop and construct a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle. Winning vehicles are powered by a small, four-cycle engine, obtain the highest combined kilometers per liter on a specified course and receive the highest design segment points. The competition increases public awareness of the importance of vehicle fuel economy and gives students the chance to set a new world fuel economy record.
SAE CLEAN SNOWMOBILE CHALLENGE

Teams compete in two classes—Internal Combustion or Zero-Emissions Electric Sleds—to cost-effectively reengineer an existing snowmobile to reduce emissions and noise. These modified snowmobiles compete in a variety of events, including emissions, noise, fuel economy/endurance, acceleration, handling, static display, cold start and design.

Formula SAE Considers Future in Texas

SAE is investigating the potential to bring a Formula SAE competition to Texas in the 2023 season. The FSAE Program Manager conducted several promising site visits and is developing what the program might look like in Texas.

2022 Season Registration

Registration for the 2022 season is currently closed for all competitions except for Baja SAE Arizona. Registration for Baja SAE Arizona will remain open until February 14, 2022 at 11:59:59 PM ET.
