University Programs

SAE International’s University Programs meets the needs of university students with high-impact educational experiences through industry-relevant learning opportunities –both hands-on and digital –related to topics within the mobility ecosystem. SAE International’s University Programs is one half of the SAE Pre-Professional Education team that provides educational opportunities for PreK-16 students.

AUTODRIVE CHALLENGE

This competition continues the strong partnership between GM and SAE in STEM education and will build on the ground-breaking success of the original four-year series, AutoDrive Challenge™. Our second series aims to have participating university teams develop and demonstrate an autonomous vehicle (AV) that can navigate urban driving courses as described by SAE Standard (J3016™) Level 4 automation.
COLLEGIATE DESIGN SERIES

The Collegiate Design Series (CDS) take students beyond textbook theory by enabling them to design, build, and test the performance of a real vehicle and then compete with other students from around the globe in exciting and intense competitions.
EMERGING TECHNOLOGY SERIES

SAE Emerging Technology Series provides an opportunity for students to think critically about current and future emerging technologies in the mobility engineering industry. Each program within the SAE Emerging Technology Series challenges universities to create a team of multi-disciplinary engineers to collaborate, design, present, and defend conceptual designs to industry professionals.
